Historic Ellicott City Parking Lot B Closure
Beginning on Monday, April 28th at 6:00 a.m., the Howard County Department of Public Works (DPW) will close Parking Lot B in Historic Ellicott City. Located along the west bank of the Patapsco River at the base of Historic Ellicott City’s Main Street, the lot’s closure will allow for the construction of the outfall structure to the Ellicott City Safe and Sound Plan’s North Tunnel, just north of the parking lot. Weather permitting, the work is expected to be completed by mid-2027, at which time the lot will reopen for public use.
Signs will be posted in the project area to alert pedestrians and motorists of the closure and construction, which is set to take place Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
To accommodate the temporary closure of Parking Lot B, the County will be lifting the two-hour parking restrictions along Maryland Avenue until the project’s completion, providing additional, unrestricted parking accommodations for residents and business owners in the area. Additionally, Parking Lot B’s directional signage posted in and around lower Main Street will be removed for the duration of the project.
